6.54-Carat Fancy Pink Diamond Ring Fetches $8.59 million at Sotheby’s
Magnificent platinum, fancy intense pink diamond and diamond ring, Oscar Heyman & Brothers
We love a good cause. Add in a fancy intense pink diamond to the cause and it makes everything that much more special!
Luxury auction house, Sotheby’s, just auctioned off several jewels from Estée and Evelyn Lauder’s private collections at its Sotheby’s Magnificent Jewels auction in New York City. One of the stunning pieces that caught our eye was the magnificent 6.54-carat fancy intense pink diamond ring by Oscar Heyman & Brothers. The diamond ring from Evelyn Lauder’s collection showcases an oval-shaped fancy intense pink diamond weighing approximately 6.54 carats, flanked by two half moon-shaped diamonds weighing 2.21 carats.
Sotheby’s pre-sale estimate for the diamond and diamond ring were $5 million. On the auction block, the 6.54 ct. diamond ring quickly surpassed the $5 million estimate and sold for $8.59 million, working out to an impressive $1.3 million a carat.
Six bidders competed for the internally flawless stone, whose pink color correlated with Lauder’s work on breast cancer awareness and research. The proceeds of the sale of the Lauder’s collections will benefit The Breast Cancer Research Foundation. The foundation was founded by Evelyn H.
Lauder in 1993.
Check out the GIA report (no. 1152045437) which states that the diamond is Fancy Intense Pink, Natural Color, Internally Flawless.
